When Do Gossip Algorithms Converge in Finite Time?

چکیده
In this paper, we study finite-time convergence of gossip algorithms. We show that there exists a symmetric gossip algorithm that converges in finite time if and only if the number of network nodes is a power of two, while there always exists a globally finite-time convergent gossip algorithm despite the number of nodes if asymmetric gossiping is allowed. For n = 2 nodes, we prove that a fastest convergence can be reached in mn node updates via symmetric gossiping. On the other hand, for n = 2 + r nodes with 0 ≤ r < 2, it requires at least mn+ 2r node updates for achieving a finite-time convergence in cooperation with asymmetric interactions.

Clique Gossiping
This paper proposes and investigates a framework for clique gossip protocols. As complete subnetworks, the existence of cliques is ubiquitous in various social, computer, and engineering networks. By clique gossiping, nodes interact with each other along a sequence of cliques. Clique-gossip protocols are defined as arbitrary linear node interactions where node states are vectors evolving as lin...
متن کاملAsymmetric Randomized Gossip Algorithms for Consensus
Distributed averaging is a relevant problem in several application areas, such as decentralized computation, sensor networks, clock synchronization and coordinated control of mobile autonomous agents. Gossip randomized consensus algorithms provide a particular simple and efficient solution of such a problem. These algorithms however need bidirectional communication among agents and this can be ...
متن کاملFinite-time Flocking of Multi-agent System with Input Saturation
In this paper a finite-time flocking of multi-agent system with input saturation is investigated. By introducing a new control protocol, it is show that speed and position of agents with double-integrator dynamics converge to the speed and position of leader in finite time. It is assumed that the graph between the agents is connected and that at least one agent is informed of the leader speed a...
متن کاملGossiping in Message-Passing Systems
We study the gossip problem in a message-passing environment: When a process receives a message, it has to decide whether the sender has more recent information on other processes than itself. This problem is at the heart of many distributed algorithms, and it is tightly related to questions from formal methods concerning the expressive power of distributed automata. We provide a non-determinis...
متن کاملSearch Based Weighted Multi-Bit Flipping Algorithm for High-Performance Low-Complexity Decoding of LDPC Codes
In this paper, two new hybrid algorithms are proposed for decoding Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes. Original version of the proposed algorithms named Search Based Weighted Multi Bit Flipping (SWMBF). The main idea of these algorithms is flipping variable multi bits in each iteration, change in which leads to the syndrome vector with least hamming weight. To achieve this, the proposed algo...
